Warriors Crush Mariners, 82-0

Brown Furious Over No-Show
Players and Game Score

(03/06/10) – With a roster depleted by injuries
and no-shows, the Palm Beach Mariners were
simply no match for the Brevard Warriors at
Stradley Field in Cocoa today, losing 82-0.
Palm Beach (1-3) drops their third consecutive
game, while Brevard (4-0) cruised to it 15th
straight victory dating back to the 2009 season.

Only 16 Mariners players made the 2-hour trip
north to play the Warriors on their home field.
The game, originally scheduled as a home game
for Palm Beach vs. Brevard, was moved due to
some financial difficulties being experienced by
the Mariners this past week. Based on an agree-
ment involving both teams and the SEFL, the
two teams simply swapped their home dates on
the schedule.

But, that’s as amicable as it was going to get
once the game was over.

Mariners Co-Owner and Head Coach, Avion
Brown, was not in a very good mood about
anything concerning the game or his no-show
players.

”Ridiculous”, snapped Brown. “You look over
at an opposing sideline and you see 5 players
cheering and rooting for the other 11 out on the
field. Your squad is up by 40 points, and you
decide to put the ball in the air?”

Brown continued, “I don’t want to hear any
garbage about it was my 2nd, 3rd or 4th string
players and that you can’t stop ‘em from playin’
the game! You can damn sure control what plays
are called! They (Brevard) must be really proud
of themselves over there. A real quality win.”

Brown's venom wasn't aimed at just the Brevard
coaching staff, but at those who let the team down
by failing to join the others who made the trip to
Cocoa.

"Those 16 that made the trip (for the Mariners)
played their hearts out", said Brown. "Those that
failed to show without notifying our organization are
just cowards. Any excuse they have short of death is
inexcusable! They let their teammates down."

The Mariners are on the road again this Saturday
evening in Tavernier (Plantation Key area) to play
the South Florida Sharks (1-3) at Bartley Stadium on
the campus of Coral Shores High School. Kickoff is
7PM.
